Monthly Marketing and Customer Services Ideas
from June Van Klaveren, Compelling Communications, Inc.
Happy Thanksgiving. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the loyal readers of this e-letter for your continued interest in better marketing and customer service. As a big THANK YOU gift, here's a free e-book that I think you'll enjoy.

Why not take this time to thank YOUR customers for their business. (Of course, a "thank you" is welcome at any time of the year, not just at Thanksgiving!)

Riddle of the Month:

What do you get when you cross a turkey with a centipede?

Near end-of-the-year Ponderings

November marks a major planning month in my business and yours, too, I hope. I retrieved some information I received from a business coach a few years ago and want to share that with you here.

  1. All customers do not know all the things you do/have that can help them. If you hear “Oh, I didn’t know you did that.” – shame on you! Most customers know we do only what we’ve done for them and unless they are reminded of all our other services, they may go somewhere else for services that we provide! Create a list of your complete services and distribute it regularly.
  2. Focus on your ideal customer every chance you get. Let people know a profile of your idea customer.
  3. Find new problems to solve with your existing customers. It’s easier (and more profitable) to sell more services to existing customers than it is to find new customers.
  4. Schedule public speaking in your niche, then follow up on leads developed from speaking.
  5. Take time off every week to ponder, think, plan, review your business. Get away from the office and phones and go to a neutral location where you can focus uninterrupted.
  6. Write down your marketing plan/calendar for 2008. Then stick to it!

 Happy Marketing!

Case Study
Challenge: Ken Vallas of Central Illinois wanted a new Yellow Pages ad that would appeal to his target audience.

Solution: We came up with a unique graphic and headline; wrote copy; designed the ad and submitted it within one week.

The Client Says: "One of the best things about working with June on our ad was her creativity in coming up with an eye-catching ad." --Ken Vallas, Central Illinois Pest Management
